Medium One IoT Ethernet Kit

The Microchip Medium One IoT Ethernet Kit is a flexible IoT development platform that simply connects an Embedded System to a Medium One Cloud Server. The board communicates data generated by sensors or other sources to the Cloud Server via an Ethernet connection.

The kit includes access to the Medium One cloud platform. This application provides an intuitive dashboard to monitor sensor data and customise the operating parameters of the sensor. To explore sensor monitoring with a hand held device a mobile app is also included.

With the Medium One IoT Ethernet Kit minimal set-up is required. The required firmware is preloaded onto the kit and can be developed utilising Microchip’s MPLAB Harmony IDE. The kit is also compatible with FreeRTOS, WolfMQTT and WolfSSL. The included firmware acts as an excellent base on which to develop custom IoT solutions.

To explore different applications the board is easily customised through a MikroElektronika mikroBUS™ socket. A Humidity Sensor, Pressure Sensor, Air Quality Sensor or Motion Sensor can be added to the kit by employing one of the supported MikroElektronika Click Accessory Boards. On-board push buttons and a potentiometer can also be used to generate inputs.

The kit features the Microchip LAN8740A, a 10/100 Ethernet Transceiver. This device features deterministic loop-back delay, cable diagnostic support, Wake on LAN (WoL) support, HP Auto-MDIX support and flexible power management. A PIC32MZ Microcontroller is used to drive the LAN8740A.
