RS Pro Ratchet Crimping Tool for Insulated Crimp Terminals

RS PRO Ratchet Crimping Tool – Overview

From RS PRO a durable, reliable hand operated precision ratchet crimping tool made from high-quality hardened steel alloy for crimping insulated crimp terminals. This hand tool consists of two handles with a non-slip ergonomic design for comfortable use, a ratchet mechanism, and a die assembly. The die assembly features 3 crimping profiles marked with a red, blue and yellow dot that correspond to the wire size being crimped for easy identification.

Ratchet Mechanism

The ratchet is pre-set to a specific force and remains locked until the handles of the tool are fully closed and the dies are bottomed. The handles cannot be opened until a full crimping cycle is achieved therefore preventing partial crimps. Once the cycle is complete the handles re-open. The ratchet also enables the operator to repeatedly produce consistent, high-quality crimps
This hand crimp tool also features a ratchet release trigger which, when pushed releases the tool handle in the event of obstructions or miscrimps

Adjustable Crimp Force

This hand crimping tool features a cam that is used to adjust the crimping force. The cam locking bolt and washer are removed using an Allen key and cam is simply turned to either loosen or tighten the tool. Once the required setting is selected the cam washer and bolt are locked back into place

Features and Benefits:

• Durable and easy to use
• Robust hardened steel alloy design
• Ratchet mechanism ensures that full crimp cycle is achieved
• Ratchet release mechanism
• Adjustable crimp force
• Crimping cavities marked with coloured wire dot for easy identification
• Ergonomically designed, non-slip handles for comfortable use
• Life span of 50000 cycles

Importance of a High-Quality Crimp
When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas-tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas-tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage.

FAQs

What Terminals can this Crimping Tool be used with?
