RS PRO British Standard Colour Coded Miniature In-Line Thermocouple Plug Connectors
From RS PRO a miniature in-line thermocouple plug connector which is colour coded in accordance with the formerly recognised BS (British Standard). This thermocouple plug is ideal for connecting your thermocouple probe or wire terminals to extension or compensating cables. This male plug also provides a quick, safe and error-free way of replacing your existing thermocouples. The plug housing is made from a rugged glass-filled thermoplastic which is impact resistant and able to withstand high temperatures of up to 220°C. The pins on this male connector have a flat design and are polarised to ensure an accurate connection. The housing is BS colour coded with the thermocouple type clearly indicated on the front for easy identification.
What is a Thermocouple Connector?
Thermocouple connectors are an accurate and convenient way of interconnecting your temperature sensing components. Using these connectors allows a chain to be formed from the measuring tip of your temperature sensor to the host computer or meter. It is important that all the components in the chain are made from the same thermocouple material to prevent any alteration or distortion of the original signal. To achieve this, thermocouple connectors have pins made from the same material as the thermocouple they are being used to connect or a compensating material. The connector housing has the thermocouple type clearly printed on it and is also colour coded to allow easy identification. The connector is opened up and the thermocouple wires are simply screwed down into place using two captive screw clamps. The miniature thermocouple plug connector can then be plugged into a mating miniature thermocouple socket connector.
Features and Benefits
Pins made from true thermocouple alloys or compensating material for accurate signal transmission
BS colour coding for quick and easy identification
Polarised flat pin contacts for an accurate connection
Made from rugged glass-filled thermoplastic
Able to withstand a high temperature of 220°C
For use with stranded or solid wires
Accepts thermocouple cable up to 4mm in diameter
Simple captive screw clamp connection for quick assembly
Polarity and thermocouple type clearly marked on housings
Applications
These miniature plugs are used in any application where thermocouples are installed, extended or replaced. Their robust construction makes these miniature thermocouple connectors ideal for use even in the most demanding temperature measurement applications.
Old Colour Code, BS1843
Thermocouples, bayonet adaptors, compensating and extension cables and connectors.,These BS1843 products are being phased out, having been replaced with a new colour code standard BS4937 Part 30 1993 (IEC 584-3 1989 modified for international use). System Calibration is available on selected probes and includes the full charge of the instrument and probe.
